The True Reason for Christmas
With all the lights, presents, and commotion surrounding Christmas, it can be difficult to remember the true reason for the Christmas season. Luke 2:7 describes that there were not any rooms open for Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem, so after Mary swaddled Jesus in cloth strips, she placed Him in a manger, “She [Mary] gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them” (New Living Translation). Whenever I think about God’s loving act of sending His Son and Jesus’ selfless act of humility, I can’t help but marvel at His abundant love for us!
Jesus loves you so abundantly that even though He is the “…King of all kings and Lord of all lords” He humbly left His magnificent throne in Heaven for a lowly manger to be with you- His priceless treasure (Revelation 19:16 NLT). While keeping His Deity as fully God and fully man, Jesus took on the form of a helpless baby so He could later die on the cross and rise from the dead, claiming victory over sin and death forever! He poured out Himself to make a way for us to step into our Father’s loving embrace and live with Him in Heaven for eternity if we repent of our sins and believe in Him- the Lord Jesus Christ!
Jesus Is the True Reason for Christmas and the Greatest Gift of All!
In a world crowded with glittery distractions of Santa, Frosty, presents, and reindeer (don’t get us wrong, we enjoy them, too), don’t miss the True Reason for Christmas! While today, we meticulously wrap gifts in fancy paper and bows, never forget how Jesus left all the splendor of Heaven so He could be wrapped in the best gift wrapping of all- God’s love for us- and laid in a humble manger. Therefore, Jesus is the True Reason for Christmas!
During this special season and the days to come, we encourage you to express your gratitude to God for the Greatest Gift of All to us by loving and serving others as Jesus has loved and served you! Never forget how deeply Jesus loves you! Always remember, Christmas is not about the presents; it is about His presence!
